Rich Grillo Picture

Hi! I am Rich Grillo

GrilloPad is my brainchild. After 30 years of software and web design and development, I wanted to bring my spirit, knowledge, experience, and dedication to quality out to the world.

It all started around 1993, during a lull in my music career, I took a side job that involved computer data entry. Immediately the juices started flowing. How does this thing work? How can I write programs?

The daily routine usually provided a pause in the action for about 1 to 2 hours every day. I took this time to study this contraption and figure out what makes it tick. Buying every book I could find, I started with MS-DOS and kept experimenting. After a bit, I discovered a weakness in the software configuration and was able to find and decipher the data file containing everyone’s user id and password.

Shortly after, at a company happy hour, a “slip of the lip” accidentally made this discovery known to the company owner. Thoroughly expecting to be fired, I was instead promoted and given the task of updating the configuration so that other employees with less than good intentions can’t make the same discovery.

This completely ignited the passion and fire! Immediately buying a computer for my own personal use, almost every night was spent learning about programming languages, databases, and writing software.

The knowledge gained from this experience opened the door to a 30+ year career in Information Technology working for and building software and web sites for companies of all sizes all over the world and many different industries. I quickly realized the pride and joy that goes into creating quality, efficient, user-friendly software. At each company, I quickly became the “Subject Matter Expert” and “Go To” guy when difficult problems or opportunities arose. I was even asked to be a contributing author to a college textbook on the “C” programming language.

During that 30+ years, I've designed and written everything from full blown client server systems, full blown web applications (before they were called web applications), numerous APIs and SDKs, and countless utilities.

Fast forward to 2024, It was time to cut the cord and start my own venture. Remembering my childhood “nickname”, GrilloPad LLC was born with a focus on continuing the tradition of top quality, effective, efficient, user-friendly solutions.

With a passion for design and development and strong values based on being responsive to customer needs and selling what is actually needed, not what we think we can sell, GrilloPad would love to create or improve your on-line presence, drive traffic to your site, and generally make your life easier. We’ll take care of the technical stuff so you can concentrate on running and growing your business.
